Announcement from the Town of Saugerties Highway Department, as Winter approaches ...

To all residents residing on Town roads,

Each year, as the end-of-year holidays approach, we're reminded that it won't be long before the snowy season will begin.  And of course, the snow plowing season begins at the same time.

Therefore, we would like to remind you when the calendar turns to December, it's time to remove basketball hoops or any other roadside obstacles from the Town-maintained right of way. The Highway Department will not be responsible for damage to anything left in the right of way.

Also, please be aware that there is no parking on Town streets (see bottom of this page for a pointer to Village info) from November 15th through April 15th to allow snow removal to proceed without obstruction. (Note that for Village streets, the winter overnight parking restriction is from December 15th to March 15th.)  In the Town, during any snowfall, it is important that there are no cars parked on Town streets.  During snow removal, cars that are parked on Town streets can be ticketed and/or towed.

It is our job to keep the roads safe for all residents. We would appreciate your cooperation in these matters.

For more information regarding our winter plowing activities (including important information about laws pertaining to snow and ice removal) please visit the Highway Department page to view our “Mailbox Replacement Policy” (under "Documents").

Raymond Mayone
Superintendent of Highways

Note that there are separate "no parking" rules for Village streets (no overnight parking from Dec. 15th to March 15th).   For further information about Village winter parking, visit the "Village Winter Reminder" page.
