Cantine Field is open seven days a week and year round, except for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The Town Board liaison to Parks, Recreation and Buildings is Zach Horton.

The Cantine Veterans Memorial Complex, accessible from Washington Avenue or Market Street entrances offers a wealth of high-quality and well maintained facilities to residents and to visitors to Saugerties, including:

  • 11 ball fields, five of which are lighted
  • 4 regulation size soccer fields, two of which are lighted
  • 1 Olympic-size, enclosed and refrigerated ice rink
  • 4 lighted tennis courts
  • 4 pickleball courts
  • 4 pavilions*, two with full service kitchenettes
  • 1 conference center
  • 1 Senior Citizen's Multi-Function Recreational Center*
  • 3 basketball courts
  • 3 playgrounds -- Small World Playground (near the Ice Arena), the Lions Club Playground and Toddler Town (Pavilion Street, next to the large pavilion)
  • 1 covered bandstand stage
  • 2 covered grandstands
  • Many picnic areas and barbecue grills throughout the complex.

Restrictions: 

 As is the case with all open-air Town of Saugerties facilities, Cantine Field is smoke-free and dogs are not allowed on site (with the exception for service dogs).

If alcoholic beverages are intended to be used at a Cantine Field event, you must fill out and get approval via an Alcoholic Beverage Permit Application.  See the bottom of this page for a downloadable application.

Directions:

Open the next section for directions to the Cantine Veterans Memorial Complex.

If you have GPS, you can use "207 Market Street, Saugerties NY" to get to the Saugerties Senior Center, which is adjacent to the Market Street entrance to Cantine Field.

FROM  THE SOUTH, Via the New York State Thruway (87): Take Exit 20 "Saugerties" which is near mile marker 100.  Off of the exit and thru toll booths, make a right turn onto Route 212, which also becomes Ulster Avenue over the railroad tracks.  Go straight for 0.9 miles until the road goes either left or right.  Make a left turn and go straight for 0.5 miles through heavy residential area and then you will come to a large open expanse of area which is the Cantine Sports Complex (Facility Sign & Flagpole).  Make a right turn onto Bob Moser Drive.  You are now in the Complex.

FROM THE SOUTH, Via State Route 9W or 32: Follow 9W/32 into Saugerties.  After you go over a bridge and up a hill you are in the Business District.  At the first traffic signal (corner of Main & Partition Streets), make a left onto Main St.  One block at next traffic light, make a right onto Market St.  Stay straight on Market through another traffic signal, go straight 0.5 miles through heavy residential area and then you will come to a large open expanse of area which is the Cantine Sports Complex (Facility Sign & Flagpole).  Make a right turn onto Bob Moser Drive.  You are now in the Complex.

FROM THE NORTH, Via the New York State Thruway (I87): Take Exit 20 "Saugerties" which is near mile marker 101.  Off of the exit and thru the toll booths, make a left turn onto Route 32 for 0.2 miles to traffic light, make a left turn onto Route 212, which also becomes Ulster Avenue over the railroad tracks, go straight for 1.1 miles until the road goes either to the left or right.  Make a left turn at the traffic light, go straight for 0.5 miles through heavy residential area and then you will come to a large open expanse of area which is the Cantine Sports Complex (Facility Sign & Flagpole).  Make a right turn onto Bob Moser Drive.  You are now in the Complex.

FROM THE NORTH, Via State Route 9W: Follow 9W into Saugerties.  As you get to the Business District and your first traffic signal you are on Main Street.  Straight through the light to second traffic light, make a right onto Market Street.  Stay straight on Market through another traffic signal, go straight 0.5 miles through heavy residential area and then you will come to a large open expanse of area which is the Cantine Sports Complex (Facility Sign & Flagpole).  Make right turn, onto Bob Moser Drive.  You are now in the Complex.

FROM THE NORTH, Via State Route 32:  Follow Route 32 into Saugerties to intersection of State Route 212.  At the traffic light, make a left turn onto Route 212, which also becomes Ulster Avenue over the railroad tracks.  Go straight for 1.1 miles until the road goes either to the left or right.  Make a left turn at the traffic light, go straight for 0.5 miles through heavy residential area and then you will come to a large open expanse of area which is the Cantine Sports Complex (Facility Sign & Flagpole).  Make a right turn onto Bob Moser Drive.  You are now in the Complex.

TO DEPARTMENT OFFICE & FACILITY OPERATIONS CENTER:  Once in the Complex on Bob Moser Drive, proceed to the "T" in roadway at Moser and Pavilion (first left).  Take Pavilion Street straight past Court Drive.  Once you past the last ball field on the left, there will be a large grey and blue structure on the left.  Department Office is on the near side of this Building as you drive up.  Truckers / Deliveries are to drive past the Maintenance Office / Garage and make the first left (about 200’).  Follow the drive around past the Police Impound Lot and into the Facility Maintenance Yard.

TO KIWANIS ICE ARENA, SOCCER FACILITY & SKATE PARK:  Once in the Complex on Bob Moser Drive, proceed to the “T” in roadway at Moser and Pavilion.  Take Pavilion Street straight past Court Drive.  Once you past the last ball field on the left, the roadway narrows and becomes Small World Avenue.  Continue on Small World Avenue to the Soccer and Ice Arena facilities.

TO FRANK D. GRECO MEMORIAL MULTI-PURPOSE SENIOR CENTER: Just before you reach Bob Moser Drive, off of Market Street, on your right is a large structure gray in color which is the Multi-Purpose Center.  If you are using a GPS-capable device to get directions to the Senior Center (or to Cantine Field's Market Street entrance, which is right next door), you can use "207 Market Street, Saugerties, NY  12477".

TO PARKING LOT “A”:  Besides being utilized for overflow and event parking, this large open lot accommodates large “non-sports” events such as Carnival, Circus, Car Shows, etc.  If you are arriving for an Event, once in the Complex on Bob Moser Drive, please follow the signs and/or directives from staff for Day of Event directions and applicable parking procedures and areas, which are located to the south, north and east of the Lot.
